- Without a bit of quoting, I really have no idea what you are replying to,
- but I'd guess that someone implied that either an Amiga or Clone with a
- HD floppy drive could not read a DD floppy. After using the Commodore
- HD floppy in the A4000, I can assure everyone that DD floppies work just
- as well as they did on previous Amigas. HD floppies also work, but the
- speed is pathetic compared to a 386 or 486 Clone.
-
- One problem that some Clone HD floppy drives have is that an HD floppy
- formatted as a DD floppy in another machine, say an older Amiga or XT
- with 720k drive, is not recognized as a DD floppy. To get around this
- problem, simply cover the hole opposite the write-protect hole with a
- piece of tape. Some drives may not have this problem, but the Commodore
- HD drives unfortunately do. Many people, myself included, have several
- older HD disks formatted as DD which will cause problems. I keep a roll
- of tape around to cover the hole when I need to use one of these floppies.
