- An excellent viewer for many kinds of iamges (IFF, GIF, JPEG) is
- Vtek, that should be available on almost every amiga ftp site.
- sometimes the file itselt is just called VT.
-
- It is definitely available on amiga.phsik.unizh.ch

- Jpeg is a very sophisticated, but very efficient image packing algorithm,
- that uses (as far as I know) discrete fourier transformation, Cantor
- diagonalization and Huffmann coding. It is a little lossy, i. e. some
- pixels may have a slightly different colour than in the original, but
- compression rates of some 90% are common. Usually JPegs are 24bit Colour
- Images or 8bit Greyscale Images.

- Vtek is as easy to use: start it, select any file to view, and it will
- be shown. It automatically determines the file type.
