- See my last posting.
-
- By the way, Merlin does up to 1600 x 1280 in 16 bits (64K colors). From the
- fact that 1280x1024x24 shall be possible in 60 Hz interlaced, I guess they
- have a pixel clock of about 120 MHz on the board.

-
- Don't know about saving in real time (probably, depends on your HD ;-),
- they say the digitizer does 25 fps digitizing _plus_ displaying on
- your workbench in up to 320x256 pixels. Higher res slows down.
-
- Here's some new information I got from a hardware guy at XPert:
-
- - The board is _NOT_ based upon the ET4000/W32, but on some kind of
- special chip developed by a canadian company.
-
- - The chip does _NOT_ do free angular draws or automatic fills, but
- the new driver software (now by XPert, the old Domino driver was
- done by another company) has algorithms for this purpose, that are
- faster than the blitter on 68020/14MHz and up. (I'd like to see
- that software...)
-
- - There will possibly be no 1 MB version, as the orders for that version
- have been very few up to now.
-
- - The board will allways reserve 2 MB RAM space in Zorro-II, and
- as much as necessary (builtin) in Zorro-III. (So the 4MB version
- will have two banks on Zorro-II, and you'll have to check, if your
- Zorro-II system has room for another 2 MB...)
-
- I have been owning a Domino for some months now, and Merlin is definitely
- no vaporware. But XPert tried to sell the Domino as a kind of flicker
- fixer, so one should be careful about what they say...
-
- I'll tell you when I get my Merlin.
