- The image format is called "PMBC". The plan is to make it public at some
- point, yes, but for the moment it's still unfinished and proprietary. Of
- course, if someone reverse-engineers it, well, there you go, but we're not
- at this tiem ready to release the spec. There are other things remaining
- to be done.

- For those who don't know, PMBC is a totally lossless 24-bit image compression
- format. The idea is to create an image format suitable for any image by virtue
- of no data damage at all, so that it can be used in any situation.

- The PMBC image handlers that ship with the current version of Imagemaster
- almost always exceed IFF in compresison ratios; certian types of images, such
- as images that have greyscale components or monochrome (cyan, for instance)
- components compress *extremely* well; PMBC is colorspace-aware.
