- The Citadel BBS program is available along with docs, and a couple of
- doors I wrote on fish disk 661 and 662. I have a much newer version on
- Portal(commercial system) and an even newer version on my BBS, The
- Amiga Zone, (609) 953-8159. Citadel is Freeware, donations are not
- rejected, but not required either! Citadel is a message oriented
- BBS, not unlike a collection of news groups. Messages are organized
- into rooms and rooms into floors. Citadel has X and Y modem as built-in
- protocols, but supports XPR and other external protoculs. It also supports
- Citadel Networking(domain mail, shared rooms), file transfers, and archive
- test and examination online by users. It has public and private rooms,
- shared rooms, anonymous rooms, and many more features. I do the Amiga
- support myself. The Source for Amiga Citadel(also known as Citadel 68K)
- is available from my BBS. I also have several doors I wrote. Citadel has
- a very simple door interface which allows you to use any CLI/Shell based
- program as a door. It works with 1.3/2.1. Supports high speed modems
- and best of all is free. There are versions available for the IBM,
- Atari, and Mac also. If you need other information, just ask. I
- always suggest to people that they start out with something like
- Citadel(lowest cost option) and then later, after running a BBS for
- awhile they can either stick with Citadel(some do, some don't) or
- Buy an expensive package. At anyrate, the most up to date stuff
- will be on my BBS, even first time callers can download the latest
- Citadel which is 3.42.E16.

- What sort of features are you looking for in a BBS?
