- Are you sure it's actually generating line feeds in the file?
- I just tried it (I use CED to read news so I just opened another
- window :-). I've noticed in the past that CED does go to a new
- line after each control character, but this is on the display only,
- to avoid excessively-long lines if you should, for example, read an
- executable file.

- Anyway, in my test, I entered control-A, control-B, control-C,
- control-D, and control-E, then saved the file. The result was 5
- bytes long, containing hex 0102030405.

- only, not in the file.
