- The serial port on my A410/1 simply refuses to send data anymore.
- (it was working, and now it ain't). I've checked out the cable, and
- attempted to do a back-to-back, with no joy.
-
- So, rather than spending mega-$$$ on getting my machine repaired (and
- worse, being without it for ages), I was wondering:
-
- a) About a year ago someone posted saying they had ended up socketing one
- of the serial related chips because it failed so regularly - if anyone
- has the details then I'd like to check this out, please.
-
- b) Can anyone tell me if the Serial Port twin-serial card has
- software to allow one port to behave transparently as if it were
- the internal port? I'm very tempted to buy this card for two
- new serial ports that work, rather than have the broken
- one repaired for quite probably a similar amount of money...
