  13. I think it would be much wiser to use I higher level coding to indicate the
  14. language of a string of characters. The scheme you propose would mean
  15. indicating the language with every character you type -- I think a bit waste
  16. of resources, whereas other standards (SGML) provide means of tagging a
  17. character stream with this kind of information (although to me the SGML
  18. standard is not fully clear about how to tag the language used)
