A report was released recently that indicated that the reason the U.S. has maintained
a higher productivity rate over japan and Germany is largely because of the mobility
of our workforce. Because it is much easier for U.S. corporations to hire & fire,
we have the ability to constantly recycle employees. Dead wood is regulary eliminated (either by the company going out of business, or a recession comming a long and that
company being forced to lay people off). When business picks up, they just don't
hire the same people back. They look for the best.
