  12.       I wonder - if you sent a 'mother' which was an orbiter (two for 
  13.      redundancy ) and then made the 'rovers' less complex but more
  14.     able to move and do fewer tasks -  couldn't you fit more of 'em
  15.     on board and increase the chances of success and continued 
  16.     viability of the experiment?

  18.      The 'mother' which was an orbiter would avoid the problems of the antenna 
  19.     placement and power ( you could use a nuke reactor cheap from the 
  20.      Soviet space program right now as hard up as they are for cash)
  21.     and if you were to go for an economy orbit to get it there (2 years 
  22.       or so isn't it?) you might really allow for a lot more 
  23.      money going into more rovers.
