  28. There is an article on DOS and Real-Time in the February 1992 
  29. _Embedded System Programming_.  The article is named _DOS meets

  37. The article (which i didn't read all of) discusses the pitfalls to
  38. watch for with the understanding that you can do a semblance of
  39. real-time under DOS (my biased interpretation).
  40. In May and June 1992 they presented a "Portable Real-Time Kernal in C".
  41. So if you want to "Roll Your Own"...  (targeted the 80186 i believe)

  43. One of their issues also reviewed something like 40 RTOS's for the 
  44. 8086 - 80x86 platform.  I can't seem to find it right now.

  46. Personally I use QNX and I like it.
