- I am sure this is a frequently asked question, but I am interested if
- anybody can provide some detailed information about products, who to
- locate about these products, etc.
-
- I have a lab Sun Sparcstation 2 that is used for some data modelling.
- We use about 6 386 and 486 compatibles to collect data for our experiments.
- They are currently connected to the Sparc and we use Kermit to transfer
- data files over to the Sun, where people can (one by one) analyze the data.
-
- However, this is a bottleneck, since only one person at a time can work
- on the Sun. The program we use runs under X11R5, so I was wondering if
- anybody has information on the exact software we need to run X11R5 over
- a serial connection.
-
- In particular, what do I need in terms of drivers for the Sun, what
- SLIP-based TCP/IP drivers do I need for the PC computers, and what good
- X-Windows based emulators are there for IBM compatibles. All the emulators
- need to be able to do is throw up a couple of windows (a graphing window
- and a data window) and update them rather infrequently (about once every
- one to two minutes) when they work on the data.
-
- Thanks for any help and I would appreciate it if you could email me
- responses, since I don't read this group very often.
