- I've seen people reporting ftp transfer rates to/from PC's in the >100k/sec
- range for some time. I have several PC's connected to an in-house
- ethernet (thin wire) most have WD8003, WD8003E or like cards in them.
- I use packet drivers on top of them, (WD8003E version 9.7) and then NCSA
- Telnet 2.3.03 for ftp in and out of the machine. I have occasionally
- seen transfer rates around 70k/sec, but most of the time it is 30-40k/sec.
-
- I also have 4 386 PC's running ISC 386/ix (System V.3.2) with the same
- type of network cards. They are also seeing similar transfer rates
- using ftp, as well as over NFS.
-
- I'd sure like to know what to expect for transfer rates. I know from
- experience on the other ethernets, that throughputs between 100 and 200k/sec
- can be achieved, however I haven't seen it here.
-
- Any ideas would be appreciated.
