  12. I have a user who just replaced his Compaq 386/20 with a Dell
  13. 466DE (66MHZ DX-2, 16MB RAM, 320MB IDE drive) and who finds that
  14. his PC/TCP will not work properly on the new machine.  We moved
  15. his 3c503/16 to the new system, without changing any jumper settings
  16. (base i/o 310, shared memory disabled) and have removed all other
  17. add-in devices from the Dell system.

  19. We're using the NDIS drivers, with NDIS-to-packet driver
  20. (dis_pkt) shim and netbind.  protocol.ini specifies
  21. interrupt vector 60H; we've tried others with no luck,
  22. as well as having tried all the hardware IRQ possibilities.
  23. The 3com board passes all diagnostics.

  25. PC/TCP loads without complaint and you can ping the PC
  26. from elsewhere on the network, as well as use PC/TCP's
  27. ping to access other systems.  The problem comes with
  28. ftp.  In ASCII mode, file transfers seem to work ok, but
  29. in binary mode, anything other than a small file (10Kbytes
  30. or so) results in a lockup of the PC.  This happens both in
  31. DOS and in Microsoft Windows.

  33. Prior to getting the new system, the user had no problems
  34. whatsoever with PC/TCP on the Compaq.
  35.  
  36. If anyone is using this particular combination of hardware/
  37. software and has everything working properly, could you
  38. please e-mail me your autoexec.bat, config.sys, protocol.ini,
  39. pctcp.ini, etc?  And, if anyone has any ideas, or knows anything
  40. about the Dell-3c503 combination with PC/TCP, please let me
  41. hear from you.  Thanks.
