- The stock PDP-10s swapped segments. TENEX was a demand paged virtual
- memory system, and BBN designed a memory management unit to support
- that, and then implemented the system on that base. DARPA bought a lot
- of them (by the standards of the time). Later, DEC built a streamlined
- TENEX box and called it the DEC-system 20. The system was TENEX with
- fairly minor changes, but to DEC Marketing decided to rename it TOPS-20
- to underscore the similarities to TOPS-10.
