  14. I am trying to identify the problems that are considered to be the key
  15. problems in the area of Network Management, going beyond those solved by CMIP, DME,
  16. and SNMP etc.  In particular I am focusing attention on fault and
  17. performance management issues at the transport layer. I would 
  18. like to hear from people who are working in the related areas
  19. or have some experience and/or ideas on the topic that they would like to
  20. share.

  22. The problems of interest for example, could be related to :
  23.     - abstractions used to describe the system
  24.     - protocol design, specification, and validation techniques
  25.     - modelling and statistical techniques
  26.     - framework for dealing with incomplete and erroneous information
  27.       on problems
  28.     - gathering and analyis of problem related data
  29.     - automation of detection and recovery
  30.     - design of suitable interfaces to aid discovery, diagnosis and
  31.       recovery
  32.
