- I hope someone can help me on this one.
- I fetched the MIT kerberos version 4 patchlevel 10 from aeneas.mit.edu.
- I compiled it and installed it on two SUN workstations (one SLC and one
- SparcStation 1+).
- They seem to be getting along quite well, but here's the catch:
- We are testing a PC/TCP package by FTP software, release 2.11, which includes
- kerberos version 4 it is said.
- However, when I ask my Kerberos server to let me identify myself it sends
- back a packet (with my name in it) which as far as I can suspect must hold
- my ticket and my password; the Kerberos server doesn't complain, but then I
- don't know who should be complaining. My PC continues by asking me for my
- password, which gets rejected although it is correct.
- Am I having a PC/TCP problem, or am I just having a 'DES outside the USA'
- problem.
- What we would like to have is some PC/IP package containing applications
- like Rlogin or telnet, secured by Kerberos WITH ENCRYPTION !!!
- Any encryption will do, as long as all Kerberos's will be able to cooperate
- (which, as long as the American government keeps sitting on DES, will be hard
- to accomplish I'm afraid).
- Anyone have any experience or knowledge about these matters?
