  17. I am trying to identify the problems that are considered to be the key
  18. problems in the area of Network Management, going beyond CMIP, DME,
  19. and SNMP etc.  In particular, I am focusing attention on fault and
  20. performance management issues at the transport layer. I would 
  21. like to hear from people who are working in the related areas
  22. or have some experience and/or ideas on the topic that they would like to
  23. share.

  25. The problems of interest for example, could be related to :
  26.     - abstractions used to describe the system
  27.     - protocol design, specification, and validation techniques
  28.     - modelling and statistical techniques
  29.     - framework for dealing with incomplete and erroneous information
  30.       on problems
  31.     - gathering and analyis of problem related data
  32.     - automation of detection and recovery
  33.     - design of suitable interfaces to aid discovery, diagnosis, and
  34.       recovery
