- The 8500 has a serial port on it, upper right when viewed from the back.
- Exabyte gives out a program, "ctsmon" or something like that, which
- lets a PC talk to this port (9600 baud). It can load/exam drive
- memory, registers, load/dump its firmware and default OPTION settings.
- The F/W and options are stored in EErom. Some of the mode selects
- can be defaulted on powerup. It is also to make a "option setting"
- tape, either you can make it (via above PC), or probably get one
- from Exabyte. The tape can be loaded to set new options, without a PC,
