  27. The 8500 has a serial port on it, upper right when viewed from the back.
  28. Exabyte gives out a program, "ctsmon" or something like that, which
  29. lets a PC talk to this port (9600 baud).  It can load/exam drive
  30. memory, registers, load/dump its firmware and default OPTION settings.
  31. The F/W and options are stored in EErom.  Some of the mode selects
  32. can be defaulted on powerup.  It is also to make a "option setting"
  33. tape, either you can make it (via above PC), or probably get one
  34. from Exabyte.  The tape can be loaded to set new options, without a PC,
