  32. SYMPOSIUM:  IPPS '93 will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the
  33. Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport
  34. Beach, California.  The symposium is sponsored by IEEE
  35. Computer Society and is held in cooperation with ACM
  36. SIGARCH.  IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and scientists
  37. from around the world to present the latest research
  38. findings in all aspects of parallel and distributed
  39. processing.
  40.  
  41. WORKSHOP: The workshop will be held on the first day of the
  42. symposium (April 13, 1993).  The workshop will focus on the
  43. I/O bottleneck facing parallel computer systems for many
  44. important applications such as multimedia information
  45. systems and volume visualization.  Recognition of the
  46. importance of this problem has been growing steadily, and
  47. proposed solutions include approaches based upon new
  48. hardware, architecture, systems software and algorithms.
  49. The workshop will bring together researchers in order to
  50. foster further research on these approaches and their
  51. integration into comprehensive systems solutions.

  53. Papers are invited demonstrating original unpublished
  54. research.  Topics of interest include, but are not limited
  55. to:
  56.  
  57.     High-speed storage and channels            
  58.     I/O interconnection architectures
  59.     Concurrent file systems
  60.     Compiler support for parallel I/O            
  61.     Scheduling algorithms and heuristics
  62.     Data and resource allocation
  63.     Application profiling and benchmarking
  64.     Performance of I/O subsystems
  65.  
  66. SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed.  The first
  67. page must include a 100-word abstract and the name,
  68. address, telephone number and electronic mail address of
  69. the author to whom correspondence is to be sent.  The
  70. manuscript should be at most 20 pages long (including
  71. figures and references).  Papers will be collected into a
  72. proceedings and distributed at the workshop.  Five copies
  73. of the paper should be sent to one of the two addresses
