  14.                          Research Positions at ICASE

  17.     The Institute for Computer Applications  in  Science  and  Engineering
  18.     (ICASE)  is  seeking  fresh  PhDs for staff scientist positions in the
  19.     areas  of  systems  software  for  parallel  computers  and   parallel
  20.     numerical  algorithms.   The  principal focus of the software research
  21.     effort at ICASE is development of tools  and  environments  for  large
  22.     scale  parallel  computing  applications.  Similarly, the focus of the
  23.     parallel  algorithm  research  is  development  of  scalable  parallel
  24.     numerical  algorithms  applicable  to computational fluid dynamics and
  25.     other scientific application areas.

  27.          In the software area  we  are  looking  for  PhDs  interested  in
  28.     collaborative  research  on  tools for distribution, mapping, and load
  29.     balancing, on tools for performance monitoring and prediction, and  on
  30.     compiler  design  and  enhancement.   In  the  algorithms  area we are
  31.     looking for PhDs interested in parallel multigrid algorithms, adaptive
  32.     grid computation, and domain decomposition.

  34.          Staff scientists positions are usually  for  two  years,  with  a
  35.     possibility  of  a one year extension.  ICASE is a non-profit research
  36.     organization located at  NASA  Langley  Research  Center  in  Hampton,
  37.     Virginia.    The   institute   offers   excellent   opportunities  for
  38.     researchers  to  carry  out  first  rate  computer  science   research
  39.     motivated  by  the  complex  and computationally intensive problems of
  40.     interest to NASA.  Researchers at ICASE will have access to  Langley's
  41.     64  processor  Intel  PARAGON,  Cray Y/MP, and also internet access to
  42.     many other parallel architectures.
