  23. Here's a quick summary of what I would say are some of the more interesting
  24. minor "goodies" coming in OpenVMS VAX V6.0; not in any particular order (well,
  25. yes, the order they're listed in the V6.0 New Features Manual draft I have).

  27. Disclaimer: Though I have every reason to believe that this list is accurate,
  28. it is subject to change and should not be considered a commitment by Digital.

  30. SHOW LICENSE shows more information in a more readable format, and has a
  31. /WARNING_INTERVAL qualifier to let you ask what licenses are due to terminate
  32. in a given interval.
  33.  
  34. RENAME/INHERIT_SECURITY; causes the renamed file to inherit security attributes
  35. as if it had been COPY-ed to the new location, instead of keeping existing
  36. attributes.  Also a new flag to LIB$RENAME_FILE.

  38. SPAWN/TRUSTED - Indicates that the SPAWN command input originates in a trusted
  39. command procedure for a captive account.  Also /PRIVILEGES=CURRENT|AUTHORIZED.

  41. TYPE/TAIL and /CONTINUOUS

  43. EVE editor has Motif interface.  EDIT/TPU is now the default for the EDIT
  44. command; EDIT/EDT still available.  EVE and TPU have a bunch of enhancements

  47. Ability to mount ISO 9660 media (level 3 medium interchange)

  49. Automated pool management eliminates separate SRP, IRP, LRP lists and "virtually

  54. are any; my V6 system hasn't crashed due to a VMS problem in over a year.)

  66. VAXcluster Cache improves file read performance (disk data block caching)
