- Hi,
-
- I hope someone else has seen the following problem because I have
- tried everything!
-
- I have on my desk a colour VAXstation 2000 which I use as an X terminal
- served off of a VAXstation 3100/GPX. Communication between the 2000 and
- the 3100 is over DECnet. Recently it stopped working and I have been
- unable to trace the problem.
-
- On boot up the 2000 passes all checks and then loads the EWS software
- correctly. It then displays it's EWS V1.1 initializing message and
- the mouse cursor and default background appear and then SOMETIMES the
- DECWindows login box appears. It generally disappears at this point -
- this appearance/disappearance may occur several times before I am left
- just the mouse cursor and the background. If I get as far as logging in
- my windows etc disappear.
-
- So - some quota is set incorrectly I hear you cry - I've checked and
- increased all quotas against a working system (and used my head) for
- both the EWS$SERVER accounts and the DECNET accounts. This has had no
- effect.
-
- The system this is part of is very large ~80 machines and I haven't
- been able to correlate the appearance of this problem with any other
- system changes - AUTOGEN is run regularly by the way.
-
- Anyone else seen behaviour like this?
-
- Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
