  12. I hope someone else has seen the following problem because I have
  13. tried everything!

  15. I have on my desk a colour VAXstation 2000 which I use as an X terminal
  16. served off of a VAXstation 3100/GPX. Communication between the 2000 and
  17. the 3100 is over DECnet. Recently it stopped working and I have been
  18. unable to trace the problem.

  20. On boot up the 2000 passes all checks and then loads the EWS software
  21. correctly. It then displays it's EWS V1.1 initializing message and
  22. the mouse cursor and default background appear and then SOMETIMES the
  23. DECWindows login box appears. It generally disappears at this point -
  24. this appearance/disappearance may occur several times before I am left
  25. just the mouse cursor and the background. If I get as far as logging in
  26. my windows etc disappear.

  28. So - some quota is set incorrectly I hear you cry - I've checked and
  29. increased all quotas against a working system (and used my head) for
  30. both the EWS$SERVER accounts and the DECNET accounts. This has had no
  31. effect.

  33. The system this is part of is very large ~80 machines and I haven't
  34. been able to correlate the appearance of this problem with any other
  35. system changes - AUTOGEN is run regularly by the way.
