-
- No, what he means is that your primary paging file must reside on your system
- disk. The primary paging file is the one that gets used automatically when the
- system boots. It must reside in the [SYSEXE] subdirectory of your system root
- and must be named PAGEFILE.SYS That's the *ONLY* page file that VMS looks for
- early and automatically, and that's the *ONLY* page file described by the
- phrase "primary paging file." Please note that in recent versions of VMS you
- do not have to have a primary paging file.

-
- No, the concept was most definitely *NOT* eliminated; VMS still makes such a
- distinction.

-
- True. However, secondary page files lack some of the features associated with
- the primary page file (the ability to be used as a dump file, for example).

- Disclaimer: Hey, I understand VAXen and VMS. That's what I get paid for. My
- understanding of astronomy is purely at the amateur level (or below). So
- unless what I'm saying is directly related to VAX/VMS, don't hold me or my
- organization responsible for it. If it IS related to VAX/VMS, you can try to
- hold me responsible for it, but my organization had nothing to do with it.
