- Apart from the C brigade which dominate the X-Windows books for obvious
- reasons.

- The predominance of FORTRAN is quite understandable though. Up to seven years
- ago C was not dominant and UNIX just another O/S. FORTRAN was just about the
- only language that it could be reasonably expected that most progarmmers would
- know.

- Now we see the real reason for the apparent FORTRAN bias. When those manuals
- were bought most of the authours were worrying about whether Columbus would fall
- of the edge of the world on his great voyage of discovery.
