Re John Baker's query: Ted Nieland's password policy checker has
been on recent VAX SIG tapes; these are available at his site
(he should contact Al Zirkle there). The policy module checks many
things including dictionaries both system and user supplied,
owner fields, permutations thereof, account field of the UAF,
and so on. If it is desired to ensure a numeric appears there
somewhere, it's an easy add. Ted also ported it to Alpha, and
it is available on the Alpha VMS Startup Set CD (has nothing
to do with the "vms startup set", which is all vax stuff) which
CD is available from the DECUS library (508 841 3500). The sig
tapes are available on the net at wuarchive.wustl.edu as part
of a cooperative venture. The Spring 1992 VMS tapes contain the
latest password policy module version.
