  12. Is it possible that the "running LOGINOUT" issue, with the VMS docs very
  13. uncharacteristically tiptoeing around the subject, might be related to the
  14. thoroughly undocumented nature of my favorite Mystery System Service, 
  15. SYS$CLI?

  17. I personally have been trying to find out anything useful about that ser-
  18. vice, which lies at the heart of "CLI callbacks," for YEARS, and have only
  19. received some difficult-(for me)-to-follow example code from a couple of
  20. scattered individuals.  Concensus seems to be that "the interface was too
  21. complicated for DEC to want to document it," but that sounds like a cop-
  22. out to me; there are plenty of "complicated" interfaces in VMS already, 
  23. fully documented and worth the effort of deciphering them... C'mon, DEC,
  24. tell me how to use SYS$CLI!  :-)

  26. If, on the other hand, this has no bearing on the issue
  27. of running LOGINOUT, just consider it a separate thread unto itself! :-)
