  13. I have received several mails regarding a version 2.0 of VMSTAR. Since
  14. I've been away from Info-VAX lately (our Bitnet connection has been
  15. closed down and we won't be on Internet until mid February) it seems
  16. that I have missed an announcement. I don't know who has made this V2.0
  17. of VMSTAR but it's *not* me. I see no problems about someone else
  18. releasing an improved version of the code (after all, I didn't write it
  19. myself from scratch) but I'm sorry, I cannot help for versions post V1.6
  20. of VMSTAR, which is the latest version I have released. I was planning a
  21. V1.7 version fixing numerous bugs and adding
  22. some new features (GNU C compliance, support of angle brackets for
  23. directory specifications, improved buffering for faster I/Os, especially
  24. to/from tape) but I will more probably sumbit the changes to whoever has
  25. released V2.0 (I'b be happy to  get a mail from him/her, however) so
  26. that a single version of the code exists.
  27. From a bug report I received from Jerry Leichter (yes Jerry, that test
  28. is definitely silly, but *I* did not write it!, the test in VMSTAR V1.6
  29. is "if (inbytes == 0 && nbytes != 0)") it seems that VMSTAR V2.0
  30. is *not* based on the
  31. most recent code I released (V1.6), which is probably bad news for the
  32. integration of the two threads of code.
