  15. Someone here bought a MD30C scanner here recently. After installing the basic
  16. software it performs nicely. However all the scanned images are either in DDIF
  17. or PostScript formats. The idea was that one could use CONVERT/DOCUMENT to 
  18. convert to other formats for export. However this does not work very well:

  20. $ conv/doc/message test.img/form=ddif test.tif/form=tiff
  21. %TIFF-E-UNSUPPLANAR, unsupported planar configuration
  22. %CDA-E-ERROUTLOG, error messages produced during output conversion, see error log

  25. Despite the messages, CONVERT does not produce any error log files either.
  26. Similarly conversions the other way, from TIFF files created on other systems
  27. does not work either, the conversion does not create any messages, but the
  28. VIEW command creates error messages like this:

  35. This is similar to what we get when attempting to display TIFF files known to
  36. be OK.

  38. Is this software broken, is it likely to be our setup somehow, or do we have 
  39. to wait for the next release? The DECdirect catalogue claimed one could archive
  40. images in TIFF, TGA, PCX, BMP, EPS and other formats.... We would be happy to
  41. learn of any ways to make this work.
