-
- I started what you are talking about (I think) some time ago. In the end,
- I settled for the existing formats of PostScript and/or TeX format ".dvi".
-
- I then created two filters (GhostScript and the PD dvi processor) and
- integrated them into the OS-k print spooler. I also wrote a small
- C routine to open a path to the print spooler with a given type ("PS", "DVI",
- etc.). If the spooler wasn't running, it would fork the proper filter on
- its own.
-
- I got the DVI processor to compile, but was missing the fonts, so I never
- tried it. Somebody has gotten it to work with a better font method and
- I think it is available from Delphi.
-
- Ghostscript would never completely work for me. I got it to compile with
- a bit of effort, but it could never find the fonts even though they did
- exist. Maybe somebody else got it to work.
-
- I'll post the spooler C routine again. I think it (or something like
- it) should be used in all programs that write to the printer. That way,
- people with print spoolers will get the best use from them. It also
- makes specifying your output format very easy.
