  35. Bob's real mistake was going ahead with quiting his job *before* he had the
  36. source code in hand *or* a written agreement signed by someone in authority
  37. allowing him to have it.

  39. In the first instance, he would have no trouble. In the second, he could sue
  40. for damages on the default of the contract.

  42. I feel sorry for Bob. He has always been a worthwhile contributor to this
  43. newsgroup and others. But he made the classic mistake of not covering his
  44. butt. He could have spared himself a lot of money and anguish if he had dotted
  45. all the i's and crossed all the t's.

  47. I see this sort of stuff happening all the time. It's sad, but you have to
  48. have it all signed, sealed and delivered before yu bet your livelihood on it.
