- I have this wuestion from a friend of mine:
-
- He is working on a program that does DMA data transfers with a hardware data
- acquisition card and, after having correctly programmed the DMA chip, his
- program bombs out under OS/2 (sometimes makes OS/2 to crash as well!).
-
- This program works very well under normal DOS, in Windows 3.1, using special
- settings recommended by Microsoft for DMA transfers.
-
- Question: are there settings with OS/2 that allow DMA transfers to work better
- (at all, actually...)? He understands DMA transfers are virtualized and
- knows of the existence of the "VDMA.SYS" driver, but does not know how to use
- it.
-
- He is using a version of OS/2 that has been updated with IBM's CSD.
-
- Please feel free to reply by e-mail or in this forum, if you judge the subject
- to be of general interest.
-
- Many thanks!
