  10. Hello, I tried upgrading my system last night and ran into a roadblock that
  11. I'm hoping you good folks can help with.  My old system was a standard
  12. IDE controller with a Conner 102MB IDE drive.  This setup has worked fine
  13. for 2 or 3 years and run under OS/2 since last May just fine, no problems.

  15. Last night I installed an Adaptec 1542B card with the default jumper
  16. positions, nothing was changed.  For the drive, I have a Quantum LPS240S
  17. SCSI 245 MB drive.  The 1542B is at address 7 and the drive at address 0.
  18. I booted up a DOS 5.0 diskette, ran FDISK on the drive and did a FORMAT
  19. c: /S with no problems.  Then I booted up the GA package and things
  20. proceeded normally until diskette #9.  At diskette #9 the install program
  21. hemmed and hawed for some time, then gave me a "Unable to Access Drive
  22. A:" error message.

  24. Any ideas??  My apologies if this is an FAQ.  I don't have the list in
  25. front of me right now.  One thing I'm suspicious of is the relatively
  26. old copyright dates of the Adaptec BIOS ROM and Quantum ROM, both have
  27. 1988 date codes.  The Adaptec BIOS is revision 3.10.  I almost forgot,
  28. the IDE drive and card were removed from the PC.
