  25. Well, negative results are informative, also. I tried (2), without success
  26. last night. I had 2.1b going with its rebuilt desktop. I used WPSRestore
  27. to try to restore my (carefully hand-crafted) desktop. When I re-booted,
  28. I got a white screen with a (functional) mouse cursor and nothing else. I
  29. had to hit the big red (well OK, it's white) button and do some major
  30. recovery activity.

  32. I'm skeptical that (1) would work better, since (2) should always do better
  33. than (1).

  35. Certainly it's possible that I had some other problem, but it looks bad for
  36. WPSRestore working for 2.1b.

  38. So I, too, am looking for a way to migrate the desktop to 2.1. I hate to lose
  39. all my settings and have to try to manually recreate them.
