  11. The old diskette 9 problem still exists in 2.1 beta.  I have an Adaptec
  12. 1542B, and when diskette 9 of the install set starts loading, the 
  13. error message about a read error on the diskette drive appears.  Waiting
  14. for the hard disk to quiece allows continuation of the install.  
  15.  
  16. This has been around for at least 1 year (I, and many others, encountered
  17. it as far back as 6.177).
  18.  
  19. 1.  A 386/486 is a very intelligent CPU.
  20. 2.  IBM has many really excellent programmers and designers.
  21. 3   The Adaptec 1542B is a reasonably intelligent interface.
  22. 4   Adaptec has also many very good people.
  23.  
  24. Question: with all this intellectual and electronic horsepower available, 
  25. after all these releases since 6.177, is it really impossible to fix this bug?
  26. It's one thing to have a bunch of expert users, with internet access, 
  27.  bypass it.  
  28. It's quite another to require the general computing public deal with it. 
  29. Installation _must_ be idiot-proof.
