  18. It is, in fact, a synergy between this drive and OS/2.  This drive
  19. (and a few others) must do something (sector mapping, most likely)
  20. that OS/2 has problems with.  We use one of these drives, and have
  21. had our system trashed twice, but not to the point that we haven't
  22. been able to reinstall.  It is not the adaptec drivers, because the
  23. same thing has happened to us with both a 1542b and an FD1680.

  25. We notified IBM of the bug when it first hit us early after GA, and
  26. got blown off several times.  We notified them that our development
  27. schedule was thrown (it's now off by almost a year due to OS/2 and C
  28. Set/2 bugs), but have got no satisfaction.  You need to call your
  29. local equivalent of the US 800 number, if you have one, tell them
  30. what's going on, and pray.

  32. We're still using the drive, but have found that once you get it
  33. configured, DON'T TOUCH IT.  Do *NOT* run FDISK, even to just *look*
  34. at the partition table, because it will erase all the format
  35. information for the partitions on that drive.
