- Over the weekend I tried adding some additional entries to the WPS desktop's
- menu using the "Menu" tab in the settings notebook. What I want to do is
- have a sub-menu which has picks for the various command interpreters (shells)
- running in windows.
-
- No problem creating the sub-menu entry, and no trouble creating the
- individual entries in the sub-menu. I was able to add entries for CMD.EXE,
- COMMAND.COM, and for sh200, the Unix shell work-alike I downloaded from hobbes.
-
- The problem comes when I select one of the items:
-
- 1) When I select an OS/2 window (which executes CMD.EXE in a window), it
- works, but I get an error message about not finding something in the
- path. I can't tell what it can't find because the status line in the
- window covers the first line of the error message;
-
- 2) When I select a DOS window (which executes COMMAND.COM), it works, but
- sets no PATH variable;
-
- 3) When I select and sh200 window, it briefly opens a window, flashes an
- error message to briefly to read, and closes the window.
-
- Well it occurred to me that maybe I needed to access these programs through
- their WPS program objects instead, so I deleted the sub-menu and all its entries
- and started over from scratch, this time pointing the menu entries at the
- program objects in the desktop. Same results.
-
- Anybody know why this happens and how to get things to work right? Thanks.
