  15. Tonight I just installed the SIO.SYS and VSIO.SYS drivers (SIO_V031.ZIP)
  16. and after experiencing minor problems, and then 3 severe system *CRASHES*,
  17. causing a minor FAT corruption on my hard drive, I decided to disable the
  18. drivers until the next one came out.

  20. I had placed the SIO and VSIO drivers in my CONFIG.SYS as mentioned in
  21. the docs, changed the DOS settings for my app (Waffle) to use COM1, with
  22. COM virtualization enabled, and 16550 virtualation enabled.  I am using
  23. the X00 fossil version 1.49a with Waffle.

  25. It was working kind of flakey, but it definitely knocked the TX rate
  26. up a few hundred CPS -- but 3 times it led to:

  42. On the 3rd time, I had to fix some minor file corruption using CHKDSK.

  44. I am running OS/2 2.0 GA (CSD level XR02000 -- previous was XR00000,
  45. I believe installing the SIO drivers may have changed it?) without the
  46. SP.

  48. Any idea what happened?  Is there eventually going to be an SIO driver
  49. that will no longer require the X00 fossil?  Also -- even though the
  50. CPS rate did go up, it still is nowhere near that I experienced under
  51. DOS.
