I have a couple of DOS games that could use a speed adjustment. the games
are Stellar 7 (Dynamix/Sierra) and Arkanoid (Taito, I think).
With Stellar 7, the game actually ran faster under OS/2 than DOS, but it
flickered, and was hard to control, so it wasn;t too playable. Then I both
tunred off the simulated video refresh (or whatever it is called) and went
from default video to 800x600x16 via Joel's generic driver. One of them
brought the game back to normal operation, with the flickering gone and the mouse and joystick able to be controled properly. But then the game ran slower,
noticeably slower than DOS runs it. Is there a way to speed it up? I turned
off EMS, put XMS, EMS, and DPMI memory to 0, turned on ROM to RAM, and set
idle sensitivity to 100. the Video ROM emulation setting didn't make a diffeither way.
With Arkanoid, the game is just off timing. It blinks wildly, and the game is unplyable.
Does anyone else use these games, did you get them working right if so?
I just started fine tuning my DOS apps, so I might get them fixed later, I don't
know. But I couldn't think of anything for these two yet.
