- I'm booting DOS 5.0 from drive A under GA + SPP. First of
- all, when I do a "mem" it reports 588k memory free. I then
- run "mem /c" and it finds 627k memory free. Which is it? I
- think it's 588k free since I'm running a program that needs
- +590k free and it doesn't run. Why the discrepancy?
-
- Secondly, I have EMS, and XMS all set in the DOS Settings
- as non-zero values. The OS2\MDOS files "himem.sys" and
- "emm386.sys" are loaded in the config.sys, however there's no
- XMS memory shown by "mem". Where is it? Does it only appear
- on demand?
