  12. I am looking into buying a 486DX33 from either loadstar, insight, or
  13. fastdata.  After calling each of the vendors I did not get a convencing
  14. feeling that OS2 would run on these computers.

  16. If anyone has comments on these computers (or other computers) I would
  17. appreciate your comments.

  19. Additionally, if anyone is interested in this, I would like to propose
  20. the creation of a statistics sheet which would list the following
  21. information for computers running OS2:

  34. The vendor name, phone number, video, hard drive, and cdrom is self explanatory.
  35. The ratings would be "0: video incompatibilities", "1: drive/controller 
  36. incompatibilities", "2: cdrom incompatibilities", "3: system incompatibilities",
  37. "4: no problems at all", "no OS2:  will not run OS2 at all".  These ratings would
  38. indicate the number of people with this configuration who have had problems or 
  39. are otherwise satisfied.  The final catagory lists the number of people who 
  40. would or would not buy this system again.

  42. I realize that there is a list of computers that has been tested with OS2, but
  43. I also realize that a number of people have computers which are not on that list
  44. which do run OS2.  It is anticipated that this table would be long, but it would
  45. provide a good basis for potential OS2 users and new buyers to avoid problems. 
  46. The idea for this list came from a similar table for video equipment on another
  47. news group.

  49. If there is sufficient response for a reasonable sampling of computers to be
  50. created, I will post an updated table each month to this group.
