- After getting the 2.1 beta installed through some trickery, I found that
- TCP/IP 1.2.1 LAPS program fails to install correctly, faling while
- trying to build IBMLVL.INI. THE IBMLVL.TXT file lists OS=1.30,2.00 so I
- added 2.10 to no avail. I ended up adding everything in by hand, and
- it worked (obviously since I'm able to post this). But it was pain in
- the butt.
-
- I used a bit of trickery to install the beta:
- From my 2.01 beta w/TCP/IP 1.2.1, I mounted the CD-ROM on a network
- machine (my machine doesn't have a CD-ROM drive). Then I FTP'd the
- appropriate files into matching directories (OS2SE21\DISK_1, etc.), the
- install directory, and the install.cmd files along with the OS2SE20.SRC
- file. My D: drive looked for all intents and purposed like the CD-ROM,
- just not all of the CD-ROM was there.
-
- I ran the install program to create the two boot disks, booted them, and
- viola! it all worked and I didn't have a CD-ROM drive, nor did I need
- the 29 floppies! I did need about 20M free, but was able to load the
- beta onto my OS/2 systejm drive (E:) in minutes (once the files were all
- ftp'd). All in all, less hassle to me than making all those damn
- floppies.
