- I am a fairly new user of OS/2 2.0 (GA). So far, so good!
- I am having a devil of a time with one problem. I am a dedicated
- user of Quicken for Windows. The program runs very satisfactorily
- seamless, but I am unable to use my second printer to print checks.
- I have the printer driver installed for both OS/2 and
- Win-OS2. I have tried swapping the cable used for this printer with
- that used for the first printer, and have eliminated the "cheap cable"
- possibility. I have run diags to verify that my IRQs and their
- addresses are well-behaved, and it sure looks to me like they are.
- BTW, the first printer running off the integrated parallel port works
- fine.
- The second parallel port is being serviced by a Kyoncera (sp?)
- 8-bit card that cost me a whopping $18. It works fine under DOS, but
- I suspect that it is the reason I am having the OS/2 problem. I have
- reloaded the printer with plain paper (hate to experiment with Quicken
- checks!) and have tried very direct things from an OS/2 window, like
- "DIR > LPT2". No soap.
- So I am prepared to invest in a "better" parallel card. All
- of the local stores that I have visited or spoken to carry the "cheap"
- cards. I have tried calling the IBM support numbers listed in the
- FAQ and have been unable to get the help I need. Local vendors have
- been even less helpful.
- Is there a list of add-on parallel cards that will support
- OS/2? Does anybody have a good source for same? I have even broken
- down and bought a "Computer Shopper" and looked through the whole
- thing searching for such a beast to mail-order. No luck.
- Any pointers appreciated. Email or a post (if you feel this
- is of general interest) very welcome. Machine is an EISA 486DX33, if
- someone has a similar beast and has found something that works.
