- I remember a note on the PDK (or in the README) that stated something
- like "This is beta level code . . . provided 'AS IS' . . . no warranty
- . . . for use until General Availability release . . ." which would
- indicate open use until GA release of the OS/2 2.0 CSet/2 2.0. This
- is further supported by a statement in the README which says that when
- writing IBM via Compuserve, to include the PDK release date you are
- using that generated the problem (ie. you can keep using older PDK's).
-
- It would be rather ridiculous for anyone to expect a developer to begin
- coding to a compiler only to have to have them stop in the middle or near
- the end because of an expiration date. Especially when a final GA
- product was not available to replace the compiler.
-
- BTW, there were 3 CD offerings: The Sept/October PDK with beta CSet/2 and
- beta Graphical Engine (released in CSD) and Windows 3.1 support, the
- November PDK with beta C++ and Communications Manager, and the OS/2
- 2.1 beta CD which is GA+CSD+Windows 3.1 support in seamless package.
- (NOTE: PDK's offer much and the Nov. issue contains most everything in
- the Oct. release - just wanted to highlight the major feature) These
- are not free nor are they give-aways from IBM, they are released for
- Professional Developers to assist in their creation of software for
- OS/2 2.x and not for the general public to receive a "freebie" copy
- of OS/2 2.x.
