- Right -- they depend on the IBMINT13.I13 driver. Which isn't
- horrible, except it is just a stopgap. With it, you'll only have
- access to hard drives, and only two at that. And you might have
- difficulty if there's another hard disk adapter in the system.
-
- Fortunately (?) Always is fast joining the minority -- all the major
- SCSI adapters, and a lot of minor ones, are now supported under OS/2
- 2.x. The list includes: Adaptec, Future Domain, IBM (all shipped with
- OS/2 2.0), DPT (shipped with OS/2 2.1 beta, along with the first
- three), Trantor (including the parallel adapter), BusLogic, Mylex
- (beta driver), ProCom (certain models only; check), CE Infosys
- (check), Corel Systems, and perhaps some others. The only holdouts
- still are Always and Western Digital (WD has gone out of the SCSI
- adapter business), as far as I know. Seagate's ST-01 and ST-02
- adapters do not have native support under OS/2 2.x, but they aren't a
- serious alternative on 386 machines, never mind 486 machines.
-
- Is that reason enough for your purchaser, namely restrictions on use?
-
- You can also add to the list of reasons performance: an adapter with a
- native driver will outperform one using IBMINT13.I13.
