  11.    I have a copy of "Ready for Letters" for my two small children.  I have
  12. it running under OS/2 (on a clone 486/33 with a SB Pro card on IRQ 5).
  13. The program starts and runs (with the music playing just fine).  The problem
  14. that I have is that if the program "moves" into certain areas (such as the 
  15. kitchen or the workshop), I get crackling noises, and the system slows down to
  16. a crawl.  I can switch out of the program and kill the task, but it takes on
  17. the order of 60 seconds to paint the WPS screen etc.

  19.    I suspect the problem is with the program and speech generation.  I talked
  20. to tech support, but, of course, they were of no help ("OS/2???  Is that something
  21. that runs under Windows?" - an actual quote).  The program also provides no 
  22. configuration as such, and does the IRQ scanning automatically.

  24.    Is there anyone out there who either has a similar problem, or knows of a 
  25. workaround?  We really like the program (and my 2 year old son loves it), but
  26. it's really irritating to have to help him out every 2-3 minutes when he
  27. wanders into the wrong room in the program!
