- You do indeed have to reformat your tapes, and it takes a long time
- (about 40 min for DC2000 tapes on my system). I posted a complaint
- about this the other day, and received several EMails (thanks, folks)
- telling me that it's not out of line with what other tapes/packages
- take. It had been 2 yrs since I formatted any tapes, and under DOS
- you tend to just accept things like that :-)
-
- After my tapes were formatted, the backups went OK. I didn't record
- any times, but I think it took about 30min or so to back up 135M FAT.
- Not sure, though. Definitely not 3 hrs for 87M. That must have
- included re-formatting tapes.
-
- I've had one crash, and 3 times it reported hardware errors, so I
- think they still have some bugs to work out. But my experience
- has not been nearly as dismal as I anticipated after some remarks
- about Sytos here.
-
- The reason you can't read your DOS tapes with Sytos is that Sytos is
- completely different from the Colorado software/format used on DOS.
