- Well I own an accutrack and have the pm software. First the software
- is a bit buggy, and tends to crash the system. But I have had no
- problems once I start a backup or a restore and I haven't had any
- tapes corrupted. But they defintly need to do more testing. Also
- when you install it, DO NOT LET IT MODIFY YOUR CONFIG.SYS IT WILL
- DESTROY IT!!!!
-
- As for the tapes themselves. I can backup my 210 drive in around 1/2
- hour. The tape software itself, when it works, is quite powerful. It
- has a library function so it keeps tracks of whats on your tapes so
- if you want to find something you don't have to start searching
- tapes. I also believe it has a time function but for the life of me
- I can't remember and I'm at school so I can't check it out.
-
- All in all the hardware is fine, its fast and reliable and not all
- that expensive. Their compression algorithm is fairly good averaging
- between 1.5:1 and 2:1. (I got around 1.8:1 when I backed up my drive
- and 99% of my material is executable code) And I don't think their
- PM software will give you any long term problems but you should be
- aware that it is buggy.
