- In a prior posting to this newsgroup, I requested information about C-News
- under the Windows NT Operating System. I just thought I'd follow up with my
- posting.
-
- Martin Calsyn (martin@iastate.edu) is in the process of porting INN to the
- Windows NT platform. This sounds like it'll provide everything that I will
- need.
-
- It'll supply bi-directional multi-modem UUCP capabilities, complete with the
- basic routing that stand-alone systems need (to go to a smart host, usually).
- There will also be C-News (or something close to it), except that you will
- control it graphically rather than via editing of text files.
-
- He's still working out the MAIL aspect (it depends if Microsoft will document
- the MAIL API), but one way or another, expects MAIL functionality as well. A
- newsreader (trn-like, but with a GUI) will also be provided.
-
- It's all being provided under shareware. For me (I have a UNIX system at home
- that serves as a UUCP site for USENET news and MAIL), it will fit the bill just
- fine as long as it doesn't have problems receiving/sending a lot of data ...
-
- I'm sure there'll be further postings here when it's available. Martin said
- that he expects FT-quality stuff in a month or so ...
