  16. Yes,   I've   used   it   for  almost  two  years.  I'm  working  at  Nokia
  17. Telecommunications  in  Finland  where we are using Choreographer to design
  18. highly  graphical user interfaces for telephone operators. We're developing
  19. on OS/2, which is also our target OS.

  21. The  Choreographer  language and the OO-concept in it is very much the same
  22. as  in  Smalltalk/V PM (the biggest exeption is that Choreographer provides
  23. multiple  inheritance).  The system includes several tools for OOP. Most of
  24. them  are  similar to the ones in Smalltalk/V PM and Object/1 but there are
  25. also  more: an editor for graphical objects, a bitmap editor, an editor for
  26. making Presentation Manager windows and dialogs etc.

  28. Choreographer  appeared  to be the most advanced way to go when we selected
  29. the  development  tool  two years ago - I think it still is. It has all the
  30. benefits  of  an  object  oriented  environment  and  it still enables good
  31. connectivity  to  outside world. All standard features of OS/2 PM are avai-
  32. lable  through Choreographer. It's strengths are in making garphical inter-
  33. faces,  however  it's  possible  to  implement the entire application using
  34. nothing  but  Choreographer.  Due to the overhead of an interpretative sys-
  35. tem, any number crunching is better off done in a DLL.

  37. The  biggest disadvantage is the price: about US$7500! Not a tool for every
  38. boy and girl ;(

  40. The  current  version  is  Choreographer  1.3  for  OS/2  (1.x and 2.x) and
  41. Choreographer  2.x for Windows 3.0. Inspite of the smaller number, the OS/2
  42. version  has  got  more  functionality. There will be a major update during
  43. the  spring  (Choreographer 3.0). This is expected to include a full 32-bit
  44. and  WPS support for OS/2. This version also combines the now separate OS/2
  45. and Windows versions. A version for the NT should be out later this year.
